70th Birthday Hog Roast in Notter Bridge

Have you ever smelled the irresistible sweet aromas of a hog roast sizzling away? There’s something quite magical about the smells filling the air around you at a wedding, birthday party, work do or another event, and that’s just how Ronnie’s wife Angela explained why she wanted us to cater his 70th birthday party recently. After immensely enjoying one of The Spitting Pig’s hog roasts at a family member’s wedding last year, Ronnie was determined to host one himself for his special birthday this year by renting one of our machines and having a DIY party with a Hog Roast in Notter Bridge. Angela had different plans, though, and convinced him to sit back and relax on his birthday, enjoying the sheer magic of the smells and taste by letting us do the catering instead.

We told Angela and Ronnie about our many options for catering the party and they decided to go with our simple but extremely popular choice of ‘pigs in buns’; simply put, we slowly cook the pig at your venue for several hours and make sandwiches out of the carved pieces of pork and the pork crackling. We provide soft, floury rolls, and what pork sandwich would be complete without some lovely stuffing and tasty apple sauce? We also bring a variety of condiments to your event, as well as serviettes.

On the day of the party, we arrived at the couple’s countryside home to set up our gazebo and serving station. Thankfully, it was a lovely, sunny day, but not too hot. We slow roastedĀ the nice, fat, high-quality pig for a good few hours. We source our meat from reputable rearers and butchers, as we are passionate about quality and freshness and we don’t compromise on either. One of the mainĀ reasons we get repeat business is because our high quality, fresh food means you get to enjoy the great taste.

Once the pig was cooked to perfection, we took out the crackling and started to carve the pieces of meat. There was a round of applause, which I took to mean the guests were happy it was finally ready, as several people had asked what time we would be serving! Everyone raised a glass to toast Ronnie’s birthday and it was great to see him happily relaxing with his favourite dish, a hog roast in Notter Bridge.
