When it comes to wedding food, nothing says relaxed celebration quite like the smoky scent of a Gourmet BBQ, and that’s exactly what guests were treated to at a gorgeous countryside wedding at The Barn at Pengelly in Truro. With Hog Roast Truro on the grill and catering manager Paul leading the charge, this day was sizzling with flavour, fun, and good vibes all around.
Set in the heart of Cornwall, surrounded by rolling hills and rustic charm, this intimate celebration for 40 guests had the perfect backdrop – and the perfect menu to match. While the happy couple had a range of BBQ goodies to choose from, the options were mouthwatering across the board. From handmade British beef burgers to chef’s own gourmet sausages, Thai chicken kebabs, and sticky BBQ meaty spareribs, the grill was working overtime to keep those plates piled high.
Toppings? You bet. We served everything with fried onions, melty cheese, and a variety of fresh bread rolls and wraps – including gluten-free options for those who needed them. It was the kind of wedding food that got people smiling between every bite.
We also brought along a selection of homemade vegetarian and vegan alternatives, perfect for all guests. Options included vegetarian burgers, veggie sausages, grilled vegetable and halloumi skewers (with a vegan version too), and our ever-popular BBQ pulled jackfruit – slow-simmered and absolutely bursting with flavour.
No BBQ is complete without the sides, and this one was no exception. Guests got to choose from delicious fresh salads like seasonal green leaf, Greek salad, pasta salad, and our homemade gourmet coleslaw. And for that perfect finishing touch? A hearty helping of either herb-dressed new potatoes, roasted baby potatoes, or a mix of traditional and sweet potato fries served up hot with all the sauces and trimmings.
Everything was served on eco-friendly bamboo plates, with wooden cutlery and quality napkins – because good food should look good too.
With the sun shining, laughter in the air, and the scent of BBQ drifting across the barnyard, it was the kind of day that’s all about love, connection, and sharing amazing food with the people who matter most.
