Valentine’s Day weddings just hit a little differently, don’t they? And this year, Hog Roast Truro had the absolute pleasure of teaming up once again with The Barn At Pengelly to help Amy and James celebrate their love in the most romantic way possible. And yes – it was every bit as dreamy as it sounds.
Hidden away in the heart of the Cornish countryside The Barn At Pengelly is the kind of venue that takes your breath away. Wildflower meadows that pop with every colour imaginable, peaceful lakes shimmering in the distance and the gentle hum of the working farm adds to its charm. It’s rustic without feeling rough around the edges. Elegant without trying too hard – and the perfect backdrop for any love story.
Hog Roast Truro has been lucky enough to cater at this beautiful spot more times than we can count and every visit feels special. Over the years we’ve built a brilliant relationship with the venue team, which makes a world of difference on the day. We know the layout, the timings, the little quirks – and all the behind-the-scenes details that help everything flow effortlessly. For couples like Amy and James, that means less stress and more time spent enjoying the moment.
With 64 guests gathered to celebrate, the couple chose our legendary Gourmet BBQ spread – a menu that perfectly matched the barn’s relaxed-luxe vibe. Think handmade BBQ beef burgers stacked high, juicy butcher’s sausages, tender chicken kebabs with a subtle Thai twist, and colourful grilled veggie skewers (with or without halloumi depending on preference). We also laid out flatbreads, sweet chilli sauce, tzatziki, fried onions and cheese so guests could build their plates exactly how they wanted to. Add in creamy gourmet coleslaw, fresh pasta salad and roasted baby new potatoes, and you’ve got a feast that keeps people coming back for “just one more bite.”
And then came dessert. Hog Roast Truro prepared individual cheesecakes, light and silky, each finished with a drizzle of fresh cream – a.k.a. the perfect sweet note to round off a day already bursting with love.
Amy and James trusted us to take care of the food so they could focus on each other – and that’s exactly how it should be. Hog Roast Truro is so grateful to have been part of their Valentine’s Day wedding and we wish them a lifetime of happiness (and great meals) ahead.
