Here’s something thirty years in the catering business teaches you pretty quickly: the weddings people remember are never the ones that played it safe.
At Hog Roast Truro, we’ve been showing up for couples since before Pinterest mood boards were even a thing – and in that time, we’ve learned one truth above all others. No two weddings are the same – not even close. And the ones where couples trusted their gut, leaned into their vision and stopped worrying about what a wedding is “supposed” to look like? Those are the ones that stick in your guests’ memories.
That goes for the food too.
For a long time, the formal sit-down dinner was the default – and honestly, done well, it’s still lovely. But weddings have shifted. Barn venues, festival fields, outdoor celebrations with fairy lights and mismatched chairs – they’ve completely changed the mood. And a stiff three-course setup in that kind of setting can feel a bit… off. Like wearing a tuxedo to a bonfire.
That’s exactly why Hog Roast Truro’s Southern Slow Roast Menu has become something of a wedding favourite lately – and we are absolutely not complaining.
Last week, Hog Roast Truro headed to a wedding of 50 guests and got to show off the best bits of this menu with three melt-in-the-mouth meat dishes – the kind where a fork barely has to try – that anchored the whole spread. Guests got to choose from three distinct glazes too, ranging from smoky-sweet to hot and fiery, which made the whole thing feel a bit interactive and genuinely fun. And the sides were the right kind of delicious, all-American classics you’d expect – comforting, generous and designed for indulgence.
To match the rustic aesthetic the couple had worked so hard to create, everything went out on bamboo wooden crockery with matching cutlery; it might sound like a small detail, but trust us when we say it pulled the whole look together beautifully.
The food felt like it belonged there, and that, more than anything, is what we’re always going for.
So if your wedding vision feels a little unconventional – brilliant. Bring it to Hog Roast Truro.
