If you’re planning a wedding, there’s no point pretending it isn’t a bit of a whirlwind. One minute you’re excitedly ticking things off a list, the next you’re wondering how on earth there are still fifteen things left to organise and only two weekends to do them in. It’s a lot.
But if there’s one part of the day that doesn’t need to add to that stress, it’s the food. Not when Hog Roast Camborne is involved.
With over 30 years of experience and more weddings than we can reasonably count, Hog Roast Camborne has seen just about every kind of celebration you can imagine. One thing never changes though: couples want food that feels right for their day, tastes incredible, and just quietly takes care of itself in the background.
That was exactly the case for Sammy and Adam.
After looking through our testimonials and having a chat with our catering manager Rik (who has a knack for calming even the most frantic wedding planners), they decided to trust us with their big day. Around 84 guests were expected, and they wanted something relaxed, rustic and full of flavour to match the feel of their venue.
Our Southern Slow Roast Menu fit the brief perfectly. Three pre-marinated meats – BBQ pork butt, Texan beef brisket and Cajun-spiced whole-roasted chickens – all went on low and slow until they’d reached that fall-apart stage that no shortcut can replicate. Three sauces sat alongside: a smoky sweet BBQ glaze, hickory bourbon BBQ sauce and a Cajun hot pepper sauce that came with an informal warning for anyone who takes these things lightly.
Mac and cheese with an ultra-creamy centre and a crispy top, seasonal green leaf salad and a mix of sweet potato and classic fries rounded out the mains, with salt, vinegar and sauces on hand for anyone who wanted to push things further. Grilled vegetable skewers with halloumi – sans halloumi for vegan guests – sweet chilli sauce and tzatziki dip gave the vegetarian and vegan crowd a proper option rather than a polite gesture.
Bamboo wooden plates, matching cutlery and quality napkins tied the whole presentation together and leaned perfectly into the relaxed vibe the couple had been going for from the start.
Rustic, considered and absolutely delicious. Sammy and Adam were thrilled – and Hog Roast Camborne was glad to be the reason why.
