As the most romantic day of the year, Valentine’s Day remains a popular date for proposals; and with thousands of Brits having just gotten engaged, it probably won’t shock you to hear that our phones here at Hog Roast Polperro HQ have been ringing non-stop as newly-betrothed couples race to get a head start on their wedding preparations!
Among those to call us was Claire and Robert, who recently surprised their families and friends with the wonderful news of their pending nuptials. After almost ten years together, the couple’s loved ones had all but given up hope that the pair would ever tie the knot, so when Claire and Robert made the announcement, everyone was eager to congratulate them.
With their friends and families just excited about the upcoming wedding as they are, Claire and Robert decided to treat their biggest supporters to the celebration they were after by planning an engagement party. Their first port of call was to find a venue suited to the quiet and intimate soiree they have in mind. Once they found the perfect location, the pair turned their focus to the most important element of every party: the food!
Having heard great things about Hog Roast Polperro from one of their closest friends, the couple reached out and asked us if we were free to assist with their small get-together, which is scheduled to go ahead next Saturday night – and just like Claire’s response to Robert when he bent the knee, we said yes!
Our catering manager, Paul, has helped the couple through every step of their booking, which has made the experience stress-free and laid-back for Claire and Robert. In fact, the pair have had a lot of fun planning this event, and they’re dying to taste Hog Roast Polperro’s iconic spit-roasted hog next weekend.
As part of the menu the couple has selected, we’ll also be treating the guests to charcuterie boards smothered in Italian meats, cheeses and artisan bread; grilled vegetable kebabs with tzatziki dip, flavourful salads and mixed fries rounded off with chocolate torte, profiteroles and a slice of engagement cake.
