April looks as busy as ever with many enquiries and lots of bookings coming our way. It is always amazing just how early everyone books in their summer parties, with the big dates for 2018 already getting bookings. You can secure a date with a small deposit and the relax safe in the knowledge that the date is in our diary and the slot is yours. You can firm up the exact menu choices and numbers etc nearer to the day. The main thing is to get the date in the diary. Leaving you free to worry about the other details.
On Wednesday we went to St Mewan for a Property management company annual celebration. They do something every year but this year they wanted to make it extra special so choose to do a hog roast in St Mewan to give the celebrations a real focal and talking point. It was an early start for me as the pig needed to be on at 2am to allow a nice slow roasting, it was worth it, as all the comments fed back to us by the workers were that the pig was the tastiest they had ever had ,with the crackling being very crispy and delicious. We arrived at the venue at 11am allowing 3 hours to unload and set up before serving, this worked well, and by 2:15 the workforce were arriving. As the pig was cooking they were continually walking past asking questions and very keen to know when it would be ready to eat. As soon as we raised the pig up for serving and started to carve we had a small crowd watching us in eager anticipation of what was to come. Right then who’s first and then we immediately had an orderly queue. We always do a vegetarian option and today’s was was roasted vegetable skewers with Halloumi, Pitta Breads & Tzakiki dip, all served into napkins or onto disposable plates. Not quite good enough to keep me away from the hog roast but it did look extremely tasty. There wasn’t much left and what was they were wrapping up in tin foil and taking it home for later. I think cold pork sandwiches would have been the most popular lunch box item the next day.
Once we had served everybody and wrapped up all the leftovers we had a good tidy up. We collected all the rubbish up and packed everything into the van. One last look around for any stray napkins or paper plates and were soon on our way, We look forward to next years annual celebration as they have already booked us in for the same menu same time next year. Fantastic, another great job done!!
