As Scotland’s national holiday, St. Andrew’s Day, or Andermas, usually calls for huge celebrations across the country. But while full kilts, lively ceilidh’s and raucous marching bands are just a few of the most typical sights to be witnessed on this all-important day, this year’s festivities looked very different, to say the least.
With much of the nation still under stringent lockdown measures, most of those hoping to celebrate St. Andrew’s Day this year had to think outside of the box. On the upside, though, this paved the way for lots of fun-filled intimate-style events to go ahead, and Hog Roast Truro had the pleasure of providing the catering at a number of these mini celebrations.
Much of the festivities kicked off early this year, with many of our clients making the most of the weekend to host their celebrations, and carried on right through to Monday evening. Ranging from traditional household-only parties to corporate functions, the Hog Roast Truro catering crew were like a team of very busy bees last weekend!
One of the most enjoyable events we catered for over the three days, was a business lunch for Graham and his team of 25 office staff.
The client had reached out to us weeks before the event was to go ahead, at which point he explained that it had become a tradition in his workplace to celebrate St. Andrew’s Day by going out for a nice meal. With that not being an option this year, Graham had decided to bring the meal to them with the help of Hog Roast Truro.
Our catering crew couldn’t wait to get involved, and after spending some time with Graham, in which we went over menu options and discussed the social-distancing measures we now have in place, the client eagerly placed his booking for the private party menu 3.
While it wasn’t the traditional haggis, neeps and tatties that Andermas usually calls for, Graham and his team certainly weren’t complaining! The feast of slow roasted lamb with rosemary and mint seasoning, dressed in a mustard & dill sauce was an instant hit among the guests, and it was only made better by the gorgeous salad and potato sides.
