Lovebirds, Paul and Emily recently took the next step in their relationship… Yes, we’re talking about marriage! Surrounded by 93 of their nearest and dearest, the pair exchanged vows on the 21st of March and kicked off a brand-new chapter of their love story – and thanks to Hog Roast Truro, there were also some seriously tempting smells filling the air.
Like many couples, Paul and Emily had spent a fair bit of time thinking about what to serve. They wanted something wholesome, hearty and memorable – but not something so fancy that people felt awkward eating it with their hands. And, of course, they wanted to make sure their vegetarian and vegan guests weren’t stuck nibbling on salad leaves and bread rolls. A tricky balancing act, you might say – but Hog Roast Truro had it all under control.
Our hog roast ended up being the perfect solution. Cooked slowly over several hours, the crackling came out crisp and golden, while the meat inside was tender enough to fall apart at the touch of a fork. We added sage and onion stuffing and a touch of applesauce to balance out the flavours, and with a basket of soft rolls and wraps on the side, guests could build their own little sandwiches exactly how they liked them.
The veggie and vegan options weren’t an afterthought either. Grilled vegetable skewers, packed with colourful chunks of fresh veg, optional halloumi and served with tzatziki, sweet chilli sauce, and soft flatbreads went down just as well as the pork.
Then came the sides – because what’s a feast without a few extras? We had tomato and mozzarella salad, mixed leaves, creamy coleslaw with a lemony kick, and both sweet potato and classic fries – complete with salt, vinegar, and a few sauce options.
By the end of the day, people were laughing, chatting and happily reaching for second helpings – which is the best kind of compliment Hog Roast Truro can ask for.
