Is there anything more romantic than a wedding on the Cornwall coast in the height of summer? We think not! And we were fortunate enough to attend the nuptials of Robert and Claire, who enjoyed balmy weather and blissful breezes at their idyllic seaside wedding on Saturday afternoon.
The pair had been looking forward to their big day for quite some time and had dedicated a lot of time and effort to make the occasion perfect – which, we’re happy to announce, paid off!
Robert and Claire’s wedding day began with a humanist ceremony on a secluded part of the beach, where clear blue skies, golden sands and the gentle sounds of crashing waves and chirping birds provided the perfect backdrop for their exchanging of vows. Meanwhile, a little further down the coastline, Hog Roast Callington was already hard at work preparing our trendy Alfresco Wedding Menu for the couple and their 75 guests.
Paul, who is in charge of leading the Hog Roast Callington team, did a wonderful job of managing his time, which meant that by the time the newlyweds had finished posing for photos and had made their way to the reception spot, the food was ready to be served.
Multiple platters of prosciutto Parma ham, salami, buffalo mozzarella, parmigiano and gorgonzola with artisan breads, focaccia, ciabatta and olives were served to each of the tables for the guests to help themselves, along with glasses of chilled champagne. These were followed by a traditional spit-roasted pig with crispy crackling, sage and onion stuffing, applesauce and wholemeal rolls with lots of vibrant salad options, coleslaw, sweet potato fries and grilled vegetable kebabs with optional halloumi chunks.
The wedding party was thrilled with the main menu and gave our catering staff lots of compliments in regards to the flavours, appearance and punctuality! The entire Hog Roast Callington team was delighted with the guests’ comments, but before packing up and heading home, they thrilled the group once more – this time with our devilishly good dessert options!
Our light and fluffy cheesecake and zesty tarte au citron were served with fresh cream and ripe berries to the wedding party, who savoured every mouthful – in fact we recall that some people even asked for the recipe when our staff cleared the plates away!
