Between the 18th and 19th centuries, getting married on Christmas Day was all the rage, and we can definitely see the appeal, what with the seasonal romance, warmth and surrounding cheer that is ever-present during this special time of year! But as time went on, the trend seemed to fizzle out. And now, those who choose to have their ceremonies on the 25th of December are part of a small minority.
So, as you can probably imagine, it was a huge surprise for us when Hog Roast Tintagel received a call from newlyweds-to-be, Danielle and Graham, who invited us along to handle their wedding buffet on Christmas!
Even before this festive-loving pair had officially gotten engaged, they had their hearts set on a winter wonderland-themed wedding with a gorgeous meal to follow the service, and our team certainly didn’t disappoint!
After taking the lead on the event, our catering manager, Paul, was able to help the clients choose from our stunning selection of wedding hospitality plans. And, in the end, they opted for our popular wedding menu 1, which combines a complete main course and cake service at a reasonable cost. With it also being the festive period, Hog Roast Tintagel happily tailored the menu to include our homemade mince pies with brandy cream, along with non-alcoholic mulled wine and steamy hot chocolate.
The couple were over the moon with their bespoke catering package, even before the big day went ahead, and they were so grateful for how accomodating Paul had been throughout the process.
By the time the day of the celebrations arrived, everyone was in high spirits, including the Hog Roast Tintagel catering crew who had started their day early to prepare the reception spread.
Matching the couple’s festive theme, Paul cooked up a gorgeous spit-roasted turkey, served with fresh cranberries, sage and onion stuffing and a selection of salad and potato side options, followed by wedding cake and mince pies which the guests relished every bite of. The venue itself was beautifully decorated too, with the outdoor marquee styled into a silver and white grotto with snowflake hangings, glitter everywhere and matching garlands, which added to the already magical atmosphere.
