On the 30th of August, Hog Roast Truro had the pleasure of catering a spectacular wedding at The Barn at Pengelly, one of Cornwall’s most picturesque venues. With 100 guests in attendance and Catering Manager Paul leading the way, the day was filled with love, laughter, and a mouth-watering Southern Slow Roast menu that had everyone coming back for seconds.
The couple wanted a feast that felt indulgent yet relaxed, and the chosen menu delivered exactly that. Guests enjoyed Texan 24-hour beef brisket, slow-cooked until tender and bursting with flavour, alongside Cajun spiced whole roast chickens and Louisiana sticky pork ribs that practically fell off the bone. Served with a trio of sauces – smokey sweet BBQ glaze, fiery Cajun hot pepper sauce, and the much-loved hickory bourbon BBQ sauce – there was something to suit every taste.
Of course, no celebration would be complete without options for everyone. Our homemade vegan pulled jackfruit buns were a huge success, steeped in hickory BBQ sauce and topped with crunchy slaw. This ensured that vegetarian and vegan guests were just as satisfied as the meat lovers.
To complement the main dishes, Hog Roast Truro served up a hearty spread of sides, including golden corn cobettes, creamy mac and cheese, and a mixture of freshly cooked sweet potato and traditional fries with a selection of dips. Everything was presented on eco-friendly wooden crockery, keeping the atmosphere rustic and stylish while also practical for such a lively wedding.
The Barn at Pengelly was the perfect backdrop, with its sweeping views and beautiful setting creating a relaxed, celebratory atmosphere. As the afternoon turned to evening, the buzz of conversation, music, and full plates of food made it a wedding to remember.
For Paul and his team, it was a true pleasure to be part of such a special day. The newlyweds and their guests were left with memories of a feast that matched the joy of the occasion. Hog Roast Truro was proud to play its part in making the wedding a delicious success.
