There had been a party booked for Sarah’s birthday on Saturday afternoon in the local village hall in Truro. Sarah was a very lovely girl who liked everything that involved unicorns or princesses, she often told everyone she was a princess but without a crown. As it was going to be Sarah’s seventh birthday party her family decided to have a magical and mystical themed castle party. Everyone could dress up in the costumes that were relevant to the theme and of course Sarah was going to be a Princess with a crown. The room looked fantastic decorated like a wonderland. Sarah’s father John was a set designer and he made a lot of the detailed decorations for the party. Sarah’s mum ordered a birthday cake that was like a princess’s castle. Plenty of guests had been invited to celebrate!
We at Hog Roast Truro were asked by Sarah’s mum (Rachel) if we could do the catering. Rachel wanted a simple buffet where everyone could come along and help themselves to the food. She told us she wanted a spit roast because as a feast in a castle that was what Sarah had imagined. Rachel thought a spit roast pig would set the scene that Sarah had in her mind of food being served in a castle.
We at Hog Roast Truro set everything up early that morning so that the pig would be roasted in time. As the guests arrived everything was ready on time. We had a green leaf salad and a tomato salad prepared, and a selection of fresh rolls and wraps for the meat. We also made a lovely crunchy coleslaw and homemade apple sauce and sage & onion stuffing to accompany the meat.
The food looked amazing laid out on the table that Rachel had decorated. Sarah’s gran had made jelly for desert and pink and blue fairy cakes. Everyone had a great time at the party and really enjoyed the food. Many of the kids had never seen anything like that before and we’re amazed. We at Hog Roast Truro were very happy to have been part of Sarah’s birthday celebration. The day couldn’t have gone any better.
