A loud thunderstorm and buckets of rain couldn’t dampen anyone’s spirits at the birthday party hog roast in Kilkhampton we did earlier today. South Carolina-born Aaron just turned 30 and celebrated in his back garden here in the UK with lots of friends and family members after asking us to provide our hog roast sandwiches special. That’s juicy pork sandwiches with all the fixings, y’all! The birthday boy moved here for work last year and was recommended to us at The Spitting Pig by a work colleague, so he called us to find out more information. We explained our different options for different budgets but Aaron already knew what he wanted. Having grown up on barbecued and slow-roasted meat including hog and spit roasts, Aaron wanted a hog roast in Kilkhampton so he could have his favourite dish of pork rolls, stuffing and apple sauce, topped off with some salty, crunchy crackling.
We’re not sure how it’s done in Charleston, South Carolina, but over here we love to cook slowly for hours to ensure beautiful, tasty meat that just falls off the bone when we slice through. We work hard to provide our customers with lovely food and a great experience – something that your guests will talk about for years to come. A hog roast in Kilkhampton is a complete experience as well as being your party or event food – the spectacle of a hog roast simply cannot be beat and the smells and tastes will have you begging for more (that’s why people always have to go back for seconds or more!)
We arrived at Aaron’s house nice and early this morning, as the hog roast in Kilkhampton would be a lunchtime service. We’d brought along a nice, fat pig, which we prepared once the gazebo was set up over the patio. Grey clouds loomed overhead and it was forecast to rain, thunder and lightning but there was nowhere spacious enough inside the house with good ventilation to cook indoors. No problem, though, as we could still cook the beast in the garden. As the hog cooked slowly but surely, the wonderful aromas filling the air, it poured down and the thunderstorm began. Luckily, the patio and gazebo were next to the large kitchen window, so we were able to make delicious pigs in buns for the guests while they stayed inside!
