If you’re a couple who loves nature, peace, and a bit of storybook magic, we’ve got the perfect wedding spot for you: Chycara in Bissoe Valley. This place is straight out of a dream – think a romantic gazebo perched on its own little island, reached by a quaint bridge that looks like it belongs in a fairy tale. Add in a light-filled reception barn and cosy lodges that can sleep up to 31 guests, and you’ve got yourself one seriously swoon-worthy wedding venue.
It’s no wonder Shannon and Sam fell in love with it the moment they saw it!
Now, one of the best things about Chycara is that it’s self-catering. That means you’re not tied down by any set menus or packages – you get to decide exactly what you want to serve your guests. And if you’re a foodie couple (like these two), that’s a huge win. Naturally, Shannon and Sam called in Hog Roast Truro to bring the flavour, and we couldn’t have been happier to help make their big day even more memorable.
With around fifty guests to feed, our catering pro, Rik, got to work roasting a mid-sized pig to perfection – golden crackling, juicy meat, the works. To go alongside, we served up fluffy bread rolls and wraps, plus our signature sage and onion stuffing (because what’s a hog roast without it?).
Of course, no feast is complete without the sides! Sam and Shannon’s guests tucked into a colourful spread of tomato and mozzarella salad, zesty coleslaw, fresh mixed greens, and buttery herb-dressed new potatoes. Some went full buffet adventurer and piled a bit of everything on their plate; others stuck to their favourites. Either way, no one left hungry – or disappointed.
The day went off without a hitch, and Hog Roast Truro couldn’t be more grateful to have been part of Shannon and Sam’s story. Here’s to their new adventure together – and maybe a hog roast reunion for their first anniversary?
